    Spring cleaning

It’s amazing how quickly your workspace can become an overwhelming mess of documents, old stationery and other miscellaneous items. We’re all culprits of the clutter, but a good clean out can refresh your space and create a more productive work environment.

    1. De-clutter
Purging your office space of old equipment, furniture, stationery and documents is the first step to a more efficient work space. If an item is no longer functional, send it to repair or throw it out.

    2. Reorganize- Designate areas at your workstation for all your items. Develop a filling system that assigns drawers, cabinets or shelves each for document filing, stationary and any other miscellaneous items at your station.  For this task, a good labeler will also come in handy.

    3. Spruce up your PC-
It’s just as important to reorganize your virtual workspace as it is to rearrange your desk or cubicle. Take the time to install pending software updates, delete old files and empty your computer’s recycle bin. Simple things can make a big difference.

It’s more than just a desk

When you’re spending 8 hours a day, five days a week, within the same few square feet, you should make this area as comfortable as possible. Personalizing your workstation can promote productivity and create a more relaxed environment.

    1. Photo memories-
A quick glance at photos of your family and friends is a great way to destress throughout the day. This small reminder of your world outside the office can brighten up your day.

    2.   Plants-
Add life to your cubicle with a small office plant. Succulents and cacti are great low maintenance options for indoor spaces.

    3. Stationary and accessories-
An easy way to show off your personality, is by making a statement with your stationary. From pens and paperclips to eye-catching bookends and motivational quotes. Expressing your creativity with pops of colour or themes that create accent points that bring life into the space.

When creating an efficient work environment, we need to think beyond schedules and process strategies. Adding life to your immediate work environment, with these simple tips will help you remain relaxed and focused throughout the day.
